Stampin’ Up! Half Full birthday card

Stampin' Up! Half Full birthday card from Maudiepapercrafts

I CASE’d this card from one I found on Pinterest by Paula Dobson. I needed a birthday card, and this fitted the bill perfectly!

I’ve mentioned before how much I like this stamp set, not least because I know I’ll use every stamp in the set. There is usually a stamp in each set that you are unlikely to use isn’t there? Well not in this set – not for me anyway.

I used watercolour paper and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to repeatedly stamp out the bottle and glass with Memento Tuxedo black ink.

Then I used Aqua Painters to paint the bottle and glass. For the bottles I used Pear Pizzazz, and for the glasses Real Red and So Saffron. I used a watered down wash of Crumb Cake for the labels.

I popped up the sentiment – may your glass always be half full – on the front of the card.

For the cardbase I used Fresh Fig which seemed to go well with the wine theme, and added some Whisper White on the inside to write on.

I hope this set gets carried over to next year!

Pootler’s Design Team – The Little Things week 5

I can’t believe it, my last week on the Pootler’s Design Team. Thanks so much to my wonderful upline Sam for giving me the chance to bring these projects to you – 5 projects made using The Little Things stamp set.

This week I’ve made a box in a card that you may have seen on Pinterest or other social media. I have to give my credit to Dawn Griffiths for the box, but I think Rachel Tessman may have been an earlier designer.

Stampin' Up! The Little Things box in a card

For the box I used the Clear Tiny Treat boxes – they are 2″ x 2″ x 2″ (5.1cm x 5.1cm x 5.1cm) so just the right size to fit something tiny but delicious or adorable, or both in. They also fit in the card beautifully.

To make this card you need to cut a 2″ x 2″ (5.1cm x 5.1cm) hole out of the card 1″ (5.1cm) in from the edge. Cut through both pieces of card.

For the DSP background I used the Lemon Lime Twist from the Fresh Florals DSP, and added some red berries with my Real Red marker to make it look more festive. The trees along the strip at the bottom are from the Hearts Come Home stamp set.

I heat embossed the sentiment in gold, and die cut it using the Layering Ovals framelits.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my projects as much as I’ve enjoyed making them!

Look out for Christmas ideas coming in the next few weeks.

Stampin’ Up! Another Remarkable You card using Blends pens

Stampin' Up! Remarkable You using Blends pens at Maudiepapercrafts

Following on from my last post, here’s another card I made using the lovely Remarkable You stamp set and Blends pens.

For this one I made a mask from a Post It note and stamped the middle flower first, then the two behind it, and the leaves.

I used Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Pink Pirouette to colour the flowers. They really pop off the page don’t they.

Although I’ve done some colouring before, I’m certainly not an expert, but these pens  make it easy for you to get a great finish. I used both the dark and light pens in each colour. Maybe just having the two pens to blend with is what makes the difference. You can get a darker look by colouring over the top several times.

Again I used Memento Tuxedo black ink  to stamp with, and this time used the silver embossing powder and card for the little bird.

The DSP background is from the Fresh Florals stack it is Powder Pink but goes well with the Pink Pirouette pens I used.

One last thought about the Blends pens for now. While you can buy the complete set, which is obviously an investment, they are available separately too. This means you can buy a couple at a time to test them out if you want to. You can buy pairs of the light and dark too.

If you have any questions about them, or anything else to do with Stampin’ Up! please contact me.

Stampin’ Up! Carols of Christmas shaker card

Stampin' Up! Carols of Christmas shaker card

So, I CASE’d the catalogue to make this card – I changed a couple of things, but it’s basically the same. I made this card mainly because I was having a Christmas session at my house, and my Christmas and glitter mad friend Dawn was coming. I’ve mentioned Dawn before – she loves all things Christmas and glitter, and is already watching seasonal films on TV! You can find her blog here – http://allthingsprettycraftee.blogspot.fr/

To make this card I used the Carols of Christmas bundle, and added some heat embossing on the sentiment.

I also used a strip of Washi tape from the Year of Cheer speciality Washi stack to add just a little extra dimension to one side of the card.

I didn’t use a window sheet for the shaker part – instead I used a small bag, because I wanted the glitter to stay put!

I also added some glitter card behind the stars and moon on the top. And I popped the whole panel up on some foam pads.

Hope you like it!

Stampin’ Up! Guy Greetings retiform style

I’ve seen the retiform style of card around a lot recently so I thought I’d have a go at making one myself.  Here it is –

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

I made this card for a swap that had to have masculine things in it, so this was a good excuse to use the wonderful Guy Greetings and almost all the stamps in it! I also used the motorbike from One Wid Ride.

To get this effect you need to mask off bits of the card, sponge the edges, then stamp the image.

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

I have seen this style of card made with different colour partitions, but I used Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip here.

I hope you like it  – I’m not sure I’ll be making lots of this style, but it was an interesting experiment.

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

By the way, the Guy Greetings stamp set is one of very few that is available in Photopolymer, wood mount rubber, or clear-mount rubber.

Stampin’ Up! Gated card using Fresh Florals designer series paper

Stampin' Up! Gated card using Floral Phrases DSP

I have been trying out different folds for my cards, and here’s one of them. We made this recently at a workshop and it proved popular – several of the participants have told me that they went home and made more cards like this.

I used the Fresh Florals DSP because it has a nice contrast of patterns. Here I’ve used Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst, but at the workshop we used all the colours in the stack, and they all looked great.

Stampin' Up! Gated card using Floral Phrases DSP

Inside the card we used the co-ordinating Floral Phrases stamp set. Around the outside is a belly band – if you don’t make this too tight the card will stand up with it on.

You can see that on this wedding card I also put a punched flower from the Flower Shop stamp set.

By the way I used the measurements for this card from a card that Jan Brown made.

Stampin’ Up! Oh So Eclectic thank you card

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic

This is one of the Thank You cards I sent out to my customers last month. I’ve made cards before using the Oh So Eclectic bundle, but this time I also used the Naturally Eclectic DSP as a background.

I am completely won over by this bundle, after being luke warm about it to begin with. Three of the Thinlits dies emboss rather that cut, and you can see that I’ve used the leaf embossing thinlit on this card.

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic

If I could remember which set the Thank You set came from I’d tell you! It’s a current one, but I can’t remember which. The punch is of course my current favourite, the Pretty Label punch.

Stampin’ Up! have made a video to tell you all the wonderful things you can do with this bundle:

I think I’d better get back to the Autumn/Winter catalogue soon!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or want to order from me. You can order if you live in France, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany or Austria and you don’t have a demo you already order from.

Stampin’ Up! Lift Me Up card with embossing paste

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

I had been wanting to use some of the new embossing paste for a while and I thought it would work well on this card as clouds.

The stamp set I have used is Lift Me Up with the matching Up & Away thinlits dies.

Using the embossing paste is very easy. You will need a spatula, or something to spread the paste, and a stencil. I used the cloud stencil, one of four in the Pattern Party decorative masks set – they are inexpensive and the designs are all different.

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

Adding the paste was easy, it is soft and easy to work with. Make sure you hold tight to the stencil, or secure it down somehow. The paste dries fairly quickly, and you’ll need to clean off your stencil and spatula straight away or it will dry on.

You can colour the embossing paste with reinker or by smearing some ink from an ink pad onto a slick surface and adding some paste. As I wanted my clouds to be white I didn’t on this card, but I will try colours at a later date.

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

To finish off my card I stamped the sentiment (from Happy Birthday Gorgeous), and punched it out with the Pretty Label punch. I added some linen thread behind it and voilà, finished.

Stampin’ Up! have made a video about the embossing paste which tells you everything you need to know:

Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous card

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous

My friend Dawn had a significant birthday today – I won’t embarass her by telling you what it is.

Dawn is a fellow crafter, you can find her blog at All Things Pretty Craftee and she has always been so supportive of me and my Stampin’ Up! journey.

I made this card for her using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle – very apt for Dawn! I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from Stampin’ Up! copper card.

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous

The flowers are from the same stamp set, which is one of the things that makes it so versatile and useful. Then I added some Year of Cheer speciality DSP from the Autumn/Winter catalogue.

Happy Birthday to you Dawn, I hope you like it!

Stampin’ Up! Santa Paws card

Stampin' Up! Santa Paws

Well, who could resist this stamp set? Not me obviously! A pile of cats and dogs in a Christmas tree shape, what could be better.

I decided the large dog at the bottom was a dog, and not a reindeer as I had originally thought – don’t you love his trousers?

The background to this card is a sheet from the Quilted Christmas DSP, and I stamped the animal tree onto watercolour paper so I could use the ink pads to watercolour the animals.

Stampin' Up! Santa Paws

I tried not to use too many colours so that it would not look too busy – there are already a lot of animals after all.

The sentiment is popped up over some gold card.

A great card for animal lovers I think.
