Stampin’ Up! Half Full Christmas card

Stampin' Up! Half Full Christmas Card

Following on from my last post, here’s the Christmas card I made at the same time. This card also uses the Half Full stamp set, but with a Christmas twist – love it!

I used watercolour paper and ink pads as palettes as before. This time I added some of the Quilted Christmas 6″ x 6″ DSP to give the card a festive feel.

Here’s the inside:

Stampin' Up! Half Full Christmas Card

I’m going to a Christmas craft fair at the beginning of December – the AIKB one in Gouarec for anybody who is in the vicinity. I’m going to make some of these cards for the fair because I think they may be popular.

Stampin' Up! Half Full Christmas Card

I’m part of the Pootles design team for November so I’ll be back soon with the first of 5 projects – posted on each Thursday during November.

Stampin’ Up! Half Full card

Stampin' Up! Half Full

It’s not often that I know that I’ll use every stamp in a stamp set, but this is one of those occasions – I love every stamp in this set!

Did you miss it in the Seasonal catalogue? It’s on page 42, and easy to miss amongst all the Christmas and Halloween sets. One of the things I like about this set is it isn’t just for Chrismtas, you can use it all year round.

I got out some watercolour paper for these cards, and used the ink pads as palettes to colour in the bottle and glass. The Archival Basic Black ink pad is good for watercolouring, just give it a little time to dry first.

Stampin' Up! Half Full

That tag fits exactly into the Scallop Tag Topper punch which is good news. I stamped the background with the row of glasses in the set and used Fresh Fig for the base of the cards.

Stampin' Up! Half Full

I’m pleased with these cards and already have lot of birthdays coming up that they’d be suitable for.

Next time I’ll have a card using the same set, but with a Christmas theme.

Don’t forget that you only have a few more days for the buy 3 get 1 free DSP offer – it ends on 31st October.

Stampin’ Up! Carols of Christmas shaker card

Stampin' Up! Carols of Christmas shaker card

So, I CASE’d the catalogue to make this card – I changed a couple of things, but it’s basically the same. I made this card mainly because I was having a Christmas session at my house, and my Christmas and glitter mad friend Dawn was coming. I’ve mentioned Dawn before – she loves all things Christmas and glitter, and is already watching seasonal films on TV! You can find her blog here – http://allthingsprettycraftee.blogspot.fr/

To make this card I used the Carols of Christmas bundle, and added some heat embossing on the sentiment.

I also used a strip of Washi tape from the Year of Cheer speciality Washi stack to add just a little extra dimension to one side of the card.

I didn’t use a window sheet for the shaker part – instead I used a small bag, because I wanted the glitter to stay put!

I also added some glitter card behind the stars and moon on the top. And I popped the whole panel up on some foam pads.

Hope you like it!

Stampin’ Up! Guy Greetings retiform style

I’ve seen the retiform style of card around a lot recently so I thought I’d have a go at making one myself.  Here it is –

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

I made this card for a swap that had to have masculine things in it, so this was a good excuse to use the wonderful Guy Greetings and almost all the stamps in it! I also used the motorbike from One Wid Ride.

To get this effect you need to mask off bits of the card, sponge the edges, then stamp the image.

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

I have seen this style of card made with different colour partitions, but I used Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip here.

I hope you like it  – I’m not sure I’ll be making lots of this style, but it was an interesting experiment.

Stampin' Up! Guy Greetings retiform

By the way, the Guy Greetings stamp set is one of very few that is available in Photopolymer, wood mount rubber, or clear-mount rubber.

Stampin’ Up! Gated card using Fresh Florals designer series paper

Stampin' Up! Gated card using Floral Phrases DSP

I have been trying out different folds for my cards, and here’s one of them. We made this recently at a workshop and it proved popular – several of the participants have told me that they went home and made more cards like this.

I used the Fresh Florals DSP because it has a nice contrast of patterns. Here I’ve used Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst, but at the workshop we used all the colours in the stack, and they all looked great.

Inside the card we used the co-ordinating Floral Phrases stamp set. Around the outside is a belly band – if you don’t make this too tight the card will stand up with it on.

You can see that on this wedding card I also put a punched flower from the Flower Shop stamp set.

By the way I used the measurements for this card from a card that Jan Brown made.

Stampin’ Up! Oh So Eclectic thank you card

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic

This is one of the Thank You cards I sent out to my customers last month. I’ve made cards before using the Oh So Eclectic bundle, but this time I also used the Naturally Eclectic DSP as a background.

I am completely won over by this bundle, after being luke warm about it to begin with. Three of the Thinlits dies emboss rather that cut, and you can see that I’ve used the leaf embossing thinlit on this card.

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic

If I could remember which set the Thank You set came from I’d tell you! It’s a current one, but I can’t remember which. The punch is of course my current favourite, the Pretty Label punch.

Stampin’ Up! have made a video to tell you all the wonderful things you can do with this bundle:

I think I’d better get back to the Autumn/Winter catalogue soon!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or want to order from me. You can order if you live in France, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany or Austria and you don’t have a demo you already order from.

Here’s what I used to make this card

Stampin’ Up! Lift Me Up card with embossing paste

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

I had been wanting to use some of the new embossing paste for a while and I thought it would work well on this card as clouds.

The stamp set I have used is Lift Me Up with the matching Up & Away thinlits dies.

Using the embossing paste is very easy. You will need a spatula, or something to spread the paste, and a stencil. I used the cloud stencil, one of four in the Pattern Party decorative masks set – they are inexpensive and the designs are all different.

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

Adding the paste was easy, it is soft and easy to work with. Make sure you hold tight to the stencil, or secure it down somehow. The paste dries fairly quickly, and you’ll need to clean off your stencil and spatula straight away or it will dry on.

You can colour the embossing paste with reinker or by smearing some ink from an ink pad onto a slick surface and adding some paste. As I wanted my clouds to be white I didn’t on this card, but I will try colours at a later date.

Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up

To finish off my card I stamped the sentiment (from Happy Birthday Gorgeous), and punched it out with the Pretty Label punch. I added some linen thread behind it and voilà, finished.

Stampin’ Up! have made a video about the embossing paste which tells you everything you need to know:

Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous card

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous

My friend Dawn had a significant birthday today – I won’t embarass her by telling you what it is.

Dawn is a fellow crafter, you can find her blog at All Things Pretty Craftee and she has always been so supportive of me and my Stampin’ Up! journey.

I made this card for her using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle – very apt for Dawn! I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from Stampin’ Up! copper card.

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous

The flowers are from the same stamp set, which is one of the things that makes it so versatile and useful. Then I added some Year of Cheer speciality DSP from the Autumn/Winter catalogue.

Happy Birthday to you Dawn, I hope you like it!

Stampin’ Up! Santa Paws card

Stampin' Up! Santa Paws

Well, who could resist this stamp set? Not me obviously! A pile of cats and dogs in a Christmas tree shape, what could be better.

I decided the large dog at the bottom was a dog, and not a reindeer as I had originally thought – don’t you love his trousers?

The background to this card is a sheet from the Quilted Christmas DSP, and I stamped the animal tree onto watercolour paper so I could use the ink pads to watercolour the animals.

Stampin' Up! Santa Paws

I tried not to use too many colours so that it would not look too busy – there are already a lot of animals after all.

The sentiment is popped up over some gold card.

A great card for animal lovers I think.

Bella and Friends cards from Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' Up! Bella & Friends

Aren’t these cards so cute! I needed a birthday card and made two to see the difference using a different cardstock background made. I think I prefer the blue, but I love them both.

The main stamp set I used is Bella and Friends which I stamped onto Shimmery White card so I could watercolour it using AquaPainters. The Shimmery White card is better that Whisper White for this.

Stampin' Up! Bella & Friends

The balloons and sentiment come from the equally lovely Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set – so useful, I bet it’s in the catalogue for years.

I also used my new favourite punch, the Pretty Label punch to stamp the sentiment on, and added a gold one (cut in half) behind it.

Stampin' Up! Bella & Friends

Back to the new Autumn/Winter catalogue for my next post – more animals!
