Stampin’ Up! Pattern Party decorative mask meets Flower Shop

Well, today is my last card as a Daring Cardmakers guest designer. The past few weeks have flown by, and the challenges have certainly streteched me.

This week’s challenge was no exception – to use a stencil and green! That’s very specific isn’t it. Here’s my card:

I’ve used one of the masks from the Pattern Party Decorative masks set – there are four very different designs in it, and they are at a very good price point.

For the stencil I combined Emerald Envy and Tranquil Tide inks. Then I punched out some tiny flowers from the Tree Builder punch.

I thought the card still needed something else so I pulled out the Flower Shop stamp set and punch – I love this set but because of all the new stuff it’s been a bit neglected of late.

I haven’t added a sentiment and I think the card could probably do with one just to finish it off so I may add one later. It is definitely green and stencilled though!

Stampin’ Up! Bird Banter card

There are so many things to do with this stamp set that I found it difficult to know where to start!

However, I did manage to make a card, whilst thinking of all the others I wanted to make later.

For this card I sponged a cloudy background onto some card and then used the Stitched framelits to die cut a circle for the birds to sit on.

I used my Blends to colour the birds, they have become my ‘go to’ pens for colouring now, I love them. I managed to kind of fade the Cherry Cobbler into the Daffodil Delight on the parrot’s chest.

I decided to fussy cut the birds because I knew their tails where going to be outside the circle they were sitting on. They are quite simple shapes so it wasn’t hard to do.

You can just about see that I used the Petal Burst embossing folder on the background DSP, which was Naturally Eclectic.

I also cut out the balloon but didn’t want to draw the string on in case I messed up the card so I simply pushed it behind the sentiment! I added some Wink of Stella to it but you can’t see it in the photo.

Stampin’ Up! Sweet Cupcake birthday card

This week’s challenge over at the Daring Cardmakers is to make a card using coffee, tea, cake or biscuits. I had to choose cake of course!

I’ve always liked the Sweet Cupcake stamp set. It’s a layering set, with three stamps to make the bottom and top which gives it so much dimension. I popped the top up on dimensionals to make it stand out even more, and added some Wink of Stella too.

I also did something that I don’t find easy at all on this card – put in something wonky! I find that very hard to do but wanted a pop of colour that wasn’t pink so chose Lemon Lime Twist to go behind the main panel, on a slight slant.

The stripey background behind the cake is a large background stamp – Brushtrokes. This is a new stamp to me and I think I’ll be using it a lot. Although I love DSP I also like making my own backgrounds.

Just for some extra pinkness I used the Powder Pink DSP from the Fresh Florals DSP stack too. Well, if you’re going to make something pink, you may as well go the whole hog.

Once the card was finished I thought it lacked something so I added some sequins to finish it off.

Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Peacock card

I’ve been enjoying using stamps to make my own background DSP recently, and this card is the latest.

I’ve used the Beautiful Peacock stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. There’s plenty of scope for using the stamps for more than one thing, and Stampin’ Up! have cleverly made the little flowers to fit into the peackock’s tail.

For this card I used Lemon Lime Twist  and Sweet Sugraplum for the backtround stamp and added Emerald Envy for the body of the peacock.

The peacock is sitting on the medallion die from the Eastern Medallions Thinlits. I heat emboosed the sentiment to make it stand out.

I think this combination of colours gives the card a fresh and light feel.

Stampin’ Up! Just Add Color new home card

So the theme on the Daring Cardmakers challenge blog this week is buildings – we have to feature a building on a project. As soon as I saw the challenge I knew what I was going to use: the Just Add Color speciality DSP.

There are two sheets of 6 designs in the pack and you can colour in each sheet as you want.

I chose to use Blends for my card. I used both dark and light shades of each colour so that I could add some depth to the houses, and added in some sky and greenery freehand afterwards when I thought it looked a bit odd just having a white background.

The Congratulations sentiment and die cut come from the Petal Palette suite, and I thought suited the card well.

There are lots of other choices in the DSP collection – teapots, feathers, a sea scene, feathers, leaves. If you like colouring this would make a great buy, or you could gift it to somone who liked colouring.

Stampin’ Up! Petal Palette card

I almost missed this fabulous bundle when the new catalogue came out. I was so in love with the Sweet Soirée bundle that Petal Palette nearly passed me by.

But then I started to see other demonstrators showing what they had made with it, and now I’m hooked. One of the things I love is that there are dies that are extra and don’t match any of the stamps. That gold filigree type element on this card is one, as is the branch, and the label for the sentiment.

So, for this card I also added a stitched framelits circle for the little bird to sit on. I also snipped the branch into two and put one piece behind the circle at the top.

The background DSP is from the Naturally Eclectic pack, and I used one of  the new Petal Pair embossing folders for the strip down the middle. There are two narrow embossing folders in the pack and I have used both a lot already.

Stampin’ Up! Pop of Paradise card

If it’s Friday it must be a Daring Cardmakers card! And because it’s a new month there’s an elemental theme for this week. Here’s what we had to play with:

Stampin' Up! Pop of Paradise

I made this card using a stamp set that I rarely use – Pop of Paradise. I decided to make my own DSP background using one of the leaf stamps in Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.

Those little tiny hearts between the leaves come from Layering Love and I used Calypso Coral to carry on the pinky theme. I fussy cut out the flamingo because I wanted him half on and half off the white piece of card.

There’s no magic formula for the diagonal cut – I just put it in my trimmer and cut where I thought I’d like it to be. I wanted enough room for the sentiment and flamingo.

The leaf background piece is stuck directly to the card base, and the white piece I popped up using some fun foam.  For the heart I used the Sweet and Sassy Framelits to cut it out.

So there you have it. A kind of Valentine card I guess. Those gems that you can see are clear Faceted Gems that I coloured with a Cherry Cobbler blends pen.

I promised you another monochrome card and here it is. Like Saturday’s card, this too features a stamp set from the Sale-a-bration brochure, where everything is free. This time it has a die cut word with it which is also free!

When I say free, I don’t mean completely free of course! For every €60/£45 you spend in either the annual or spring/summer catalogue you can choose something free from the sale-a-bration brochure. This year Stampin’ Up! have changed things slightly and there are a couple of things that you need to spend €120/£90 to earn, and the dies are one of them.

Here I simply used the flower stamp to make a background, then used a couple of the words and teamed them up with the die cut Amazing word.

I sat it on a black mat and a Whisper White card base. Simple but effective I think. These flowers would look stunning coloured in too.

Pootler’s blog hop – Heartfelt Blooms Sale-a-bration card

It’s another Pootler’s blog hop! This one is celebrating Sale-a-bration – your chance to get free goodies when you spend. All the projects in today’s hop were made using the free products from the Sale-a-bration brochure.

My card is made using beautiful Heartfelt Blooms stamp – the first one in the brochure. The card is very simple as you can see, but I love it just the same.

I’ve only used one colour – Dapper Denim, and paired it with Whisper White. This stamp is beautiful – it is made to give the illusion of depth by using shading and different depths of cut to the stamp, and it doesn’t disappoint.

For the background Dapper Denim strip behind the flower I used one of the new embossing folders – Petal Pair. It’s one of a pair of narrow embossing folders that worked out just right for this card.

You could use this card for many different things – sympathy, thinking of you etc, and there are two other sentiments in the set too.

Stampin’ Up! Celebrate You Sale-a-bration card

It’s time for another card for the Daring Cardmakers  – this week’s challenge was to make a card using some masking.

Here’s what I came up with:

I’ve used the flower from the Amazing You stamp set, and the sentiment is from the co-ordinating Celebrate You dies. Both of these sets are in the Sale-a-bration brochure.

I’ve use two lots of masking here. First I masked of the blank strip in the middle using some post it strip. Then I cut out a mask of the flower and used it to stamp the flowers so that the one in the middle looks like it’s in front of the others.

Then I got out my Blends pens to colour in the flowers. I used both the light and dark shade of each colour.

Because there was a little bleeding of the colour I added two black lines to help make the middle look better. I added some foam to the back of the die cut to add some dimension to it.

I did think about adding some sequins or other bling but decided against it, although I may just add some later!
