Pootler’s Blog Hop, Dashing Deer card

Yay, it’s time for another Pootler’s Blog Hop! We hop each time there is a new catalogue launch. So – this hop is for the new Autumn/Winter catalogue and each project on the hop uses items from it. We’d love it if you could take time to hop around every blog. Yes, I know there’s a lot of them, but I promise that the projects will be awesome!

My card uses the wonderful Dashing Deer bundle:

I’ve kind of CASED the catalogue but changed a few things too. All the gold elements are from the bundle – I heat embossed the gold sentiment and floral wreath design and die cut the deer. I also added some gold embossing around the edge of the mat in the background.

The circle that the deer is sitting on I embossed using the Swirls and Curls embossing folder – love it, and it’s not just for Christmas!

And last but certainly not least, the checkered background is the Buffalo Check background stamp. I used Soft Sea Foam ink, not immediately Christmassy, but it’s a colour I love and had to use.

This is a beautiful bundle, and one I plan to use a lot this year so look out for more cards and projects using it from me.

Stampin’ Up! Rooted in Nature card

Today’s card is a little bit different for me, and one I CASE’d from Wendie Young Waldman. Mine is a little different to hers, but the idea is the same – to cut up squares from one of the stamps in the Rooted In Nature stamp set.

If you like Lovely As A Tree you’ll love this. Plus, this one has not only a bigger stamp set, but dies too. Buy them both as a bundle and you get a 10% discount. Some of the leaf dies emboss too, it really is a great bundle.

I used new ink pads for this card – Grey Granite for the tree trunks, and Granny Apple Green for the leaves. Those leaves are beautiful aren’t they? Such a lot of detail in them. And I love that tree slice too.

I used the smallest of the Stitched Framelit squares to cut up the slices – I first stamped them onto a piece of card then die cut them afterwards.

The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from the Hand Delivered hostess stamp set.

I used this for a 60th birthday card for a man who I know will love it.

Pootler’s Blog Hop, Stampin’ Up! Painted Glass card

If it’s a new catagloue, then it must be time for another Pootles Blog Hop. This post is one of many on this hop, all featuring products from the new catalogue. Please hop around as many blogs as you can and leave a comment, it means a lot to us all.

My card uses the Painted Glass bundle. I’ve used one of the stamps to make a background, and the butterfly stamp and die to add some interest. The stamp set and dies are available as a bundle at a 10% discount.

I coloured the butterflies using the blender pens and then die cut them out. The stamp set also has a rose and a bird that I could also have used.

There is also some beautiful patterned vellum which goes with this suite – I’m waiting for it to arrive so I haven’t used it here. You should take a look though, it is beautiful.

See that embossed background at the top and bottom of the card? That is a die that I used the new embossing pads on to make an impression rather than a a die cut. Effective isn’t it?

You can use any dies with the embossing mats and your Big Shot to emboss with dies, so you can make even better use of them.

The card base is Whisper White and the embossed card is the lovely returning Mint Macaron. Here’s a close up of that embossing.

I used some Wink of Stella on the butterflies but it doesn’t show up in the photos. I chose the A Reason to Celebrate sentiment because I thought it could be used for a number of things. Hope you like it!

I don’t usually feature many hostess stamp sets because you have to spend a certain amount (£150/€200) or host a party for that amount to be able to get one, but when I saw this I loved it and had to have it. It’s the Hand Delivered stamp set.

It’s a very clever stamp set, there is one pair of legs (!) with different skirt patterns. Then there are four options for the top half – books, cake, a poster, or as I have used here balloons.

The easiest way I found to get the top and bottom lined up was to use the Stamparatus: more about that below.

I used the Stampin’ Blends to colour the balloons, and found that adding a thin darker layer around the outside of each balloon really made them stand out. I was going to write pop there but that wouldn’t have worked would it!

You can’t see it here, but I added some Wink of Stella to just a couple of balloons, not all.

I added those squiggles in the background because I felt it needed something just to finish it off. They’re from the Happy Gorgeous stamp set.

I sent this card to a little girl for her birthday and she loved it. Hope you do too.

The Stamparatus is fabulous! If you haven’t heard about it, it’s a stamp positioning tool but better, you can do so much with it. Here’s a video Stampin’ Up! have made to explain it, and why you need one.

Well, it’s here, hooray! The new annual catalogue is live.
